Ottawa Therapy Dogs Inc.

Ottawa Therapy Dogs is a volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization that provides animal-assisted therapy throughout the National Capital Region. Each year, more than 1,000 people benefit from our therapy dog programs and services.

What do therapy dogs do?

Therapy dogs  work with a handler to provide programs and services that improve clients’ physical, emotional and communication abilities. Humans and animals share a powerful bond. That bond can be a source of comfort, peace and relief for those who suffer from physical or emotional pain.

Therapy dogs can sometimes achieve results when other therapies have failed. Some of the healing benefits of therapy dogs include reducing blood pressure, anxiety, stress, and loneliness.
