Maya

Hi, I'm Maya and I turned 8 in 2011. When I was 6 I was so lucky to be adopted by Sandra. Once I settled into my new home, Sandra took me to school and there we learned lots of fun things. I learned how to jump through hoops, run through a tunnel, walk right beside Sandra without pulling on my leash and coming when called no matter what distractions were around. Of course the best part of school were the treats!

We also have the most amazing adventures. Sandra takes me camping, canoeing, skiing, snowshoeing and hiking. I have so much fun swimming in the lakes, rolling around in the mud puddles and snow, and of course sleeping next to the fire.

As you can see from my picture, I am a Yellow Labrador Retreiver. Sandra likes to say that I am am a Yellow Lab from tip to tail and everything in between. I absolutely love food. And I love to retreive any ball that is thrown for me to catch, oh and I love to swim. It does not matter if it's a lake, ocean or mud puddle. I also love people and kids, especially when they pet my head and my stomach.

Perhaps this is why Sandra thought I would be a great Therapy Dog. Sandra and I visit children in schools and libraries where I take them for a walk and help them learn to read.
