Brutus, my gift from God that keeps on giving

Brutus, a very handsome Saint-Bernard, is the perfect Gentle Giant.  A rescue group was in desperate need of foster parents, called us and we agreed with the only condition that he must get along with Ben, our recently "given" Bernese Mountain Dog who was trying to find his way.  Never having seen a Saint, I had no idea what to expect.  When this big Angel lumbered out of the van, it was love at first sight for both of us!  He was instantly accepted by the whole family—Ben (the dog), Murphy, Jessie and Misty (the Boss Cat Team).

Because of the love, joy and laughter the big Angel brought to our home, as well as wherever we went, I felt very strongly that we had to share him with the world.  Who couldn’t smile at that face?  We successfully completed Best Friends Therapy School, passed the Ottawa Therapy Dog Evaluation, and now we’re off to pay back our good fortune. 

We visit Madonna Nursing Home each week as well as extra visits to hospitals on request.  He is a natural.  As he calmly walks the halls on our visits, there is a sea of smiling, peaceful faces.  The residents absolutely love him and he gets lots of pats, hugs and kisses.  So little can mean so much when love is in the eyes.

May we continue to lumber through the halls and rooms of Madonna for many years to come.
