Our Members
Our members (the humans, that is) are committed volunteers whose life skills bring a rich array of talent and knowledge to Ottawa Therapy Dogs as well as to Canada’s National Capital Area when visiting with their therapy dogs. Health care workers, business men and women, teachers, government employees, authors, and retirees all contribute to our community well beyond their own therapy dog work.
In practice, the human part of the OTD therapy-team equation is often called “the north end of the leash” — we all know that our animal companions are the ones who light up the faces of our clients. The photo above shows a few of the currently certified (2009) Ottawa Therapy Dogs Member Teams.
Member Team Profiles – Some of our members have chosen to create a team profile page describing their therapy work. Visit these pages to learn more about the work being done by Ottawa Therapy Dogs in our community. Members interested in creating a team profile should refer to the Guidelines for Creating OTD Member Pages.
Associate Members – Not all of our members are currently working with their own therapy dog. Some do not have an active dog at this time, and others have chosen to support Ottawa Therapy Dogs through volunteer activities that do not involve working as a therapy team. Learn more about our associate members and some of the critical roles they play through these pages.
