Guidelines for Creating OTD Member Pages

As one of the services offered to members, Ottawa Therapy Dogs (OTD) provides the opportunity to create a Web page for each therapy team.

The following guidelines have been developed to ensure that member pages fit well with the rest of the site contents, including other member pages. This is done to conform to the by-laws and policies of OTD, and to keep our Web site user-friendly.

  1. The decision to create a 'therapy team' Web page rests with the Handler.
  2. Eligibility: To be eligible to create a page, the dog must be an active therapy dog, and the Team must be members of OTD. It is also possible to create a page for a retired or deceased dog (an in-memoriam page can be created for a deceased dog); however, members are encouraged to create their page while they are an active team.
  3. Content: The human member of the team is responsible for submitting the text and a digital image(s) to be used to compose the page. Existing pages may be used as a reference for approximate length and style. (The OTD Communications Committee Chair may be able to provide assistance with writing or editing the text. The Webmaster will edit and optimize the image for the Web page.)
    1. Language: Pages may be created in English, French, or both. The member is responsible for translation if a bilingual page is desired. Pages will be posted only in the language(s) submitted.
    2. Images: The dog may be shown alone (at work or at play), or together with the handler. Please do not submit images showing any clients or other individuals, unless it is possible to edit them from the image. This requirement exists due to concerns about privacy and liability.
  4. Delivery and Notification: Text and image should be sent via e-mail to the Member Page Coordinator. The contents submitted may be edited in consultation with the member. The member will be notified once the page is posted to the Web site.
  5. Revisions: It is the responsibility of the member to notify the Member Page Coordinator if revision of the page is required.
  6. Authority: The Member Page Coordinator has the authority to make decisions about member Web page content. However, this should be done in consultation with the Volunteer Coordinator and the Membership Committee Chair.
